Alexander Thieme
Læsø Kunsthals første sæson bestod i en dobbelt udstilling med de to tegnere Peter og Jonas Lautrop, og den russiske maler og arkitekt, Alexander Thieme. Thieme viste hele sit spekter af installations- og objektkunst. Han var i forvejen kendt som maler, især som portrætmaler. Han har udført to miniatureportrætter af HKH Dronning Margrethe, og har 29 værker i Kongehusets samling. Udstillingen i Læsø Kunsthal blev, uden det var tilsigtet, hans første og sidste retrospektive visning af den anden side af hans kunstneriske virke. Vinteren 2012-13 blev Alexander Thieme alvorligt syg, og den 20. maj 2013 døde han 60 år gammel på et plejehjem i Assens. Han led af den sjældne sygdom Creutzfeldt-Jacob Syndrom.
The first season in Laesoe Art Hall was dedicated in part to the Russian painter and architect Alexander Thieme. Thieme was at the time well known as a painter, and is represented in the Danish Royal family’s art collection with 29 works. On Laesoe we focused entirely on his objects and installations. The result was the first and last retrospective display of this dimension of Thieme’s art. Thieme fell very ill during the winter of 2012-2013, and died on the 20th of May 2013, 60 years old.
